Macsense Provides OS X Support for Almost Any 802.11b LAN PCMCIA Card

Los Angeles, California, September 22, 2002 – Macsense Connectivity, a leader in Macintosh and cross-platform networking devices, is pleased to announce a new UNIVERSAL driver that allows any Intersil Prism based-PCMCIA card to support Macintosh wireless networks. This driver supports Mac OS 8, 9 and now OS X!

This driver supports most of the popular cards and features up to 900 feet of operating range in open spaces with a data transfer rate of up to 11Mbps. There is 64/128-bit WEP data encryption for security and a control strip that shows the dynamic signal strength at all times. The Macsense Universal Driver works with all Internet applications.

Go to http://www.macsense.com/product/broadband/aerouni.html for a list of compatible LAN cards and to download your free trial version. The trial version is good for 30-minute session and is designed to confirm compatibility with the card the user is using. Full version is available for $25 which removes the 30-min restriction.

Other Macsense products include the new AeroPad, an 802.11b USB adapter for older iMacs and PowerBooks, the XRouter Pro and XRouter Aero, Cable/DSL Internet sharing routers that allow Macintosh and PC computers to share Cable/DSL access. Both routers include full support for OS X. The XRouter Aero incorporates a built-in Access Point that allows multiple users across mixed platforms to share wireless access to the Internet.
