Macsense Ships the AeroPad 802.11b Wireless USB Adapter

Los Angeles, California, September 23, 2002 – Macsense Connectivity, a leader in Macintosh and cross-platform networking devices, is pleased to announce that the long-awaited AeroPad is now shipping. The AeroPad (WUA-400) allows 802.11b wireless connectivity through a computer’s USB port.
This is terrific news for the thousands of owners of older iMacs and PowerBooks with no way to connect to a wireless network. The AeroPad ships complete with drivers for Mac OS 9, OS X and Windows 98 to XP so that virtually any computer, Mac or PC, with a USB port can enjoy the freedom and benefits of wireless networking.

AeroPad is a Plug and Play network adapter that allows users to instantly share data, printers and even high-speed Internet access without wires or cables. AeroPad can send and receive data at speeds up to 11Mbps and is fully interoperable with other IEEE 802.11b 2.4Ghz compliant devices.

For PowerBooks, iBooks and notebook computers with a PCMCIA slot, the AeroCard (WPE-600) provides instant wireless access and includes support for OS X. Plus Macsense has developed an Universal Mac OS 9 and X driver that works on almost any PCMCIA card.

Other Macsense products include the XRouter Pro and XRouter Aero that allow Macintosh and PC computers to share Cable/DSL access. Both routers include full support for OS X. The XRouter Aero incorporates a built-in Access Point that allows multiple users across mixed platforms to share wireless access to the Internet.

Macsense products are known for their ease of installation and unparalleled technical support, which is free for the life of the product. There are no extended services agreements to sign or pay for. Macsense also updates its firmware frequently to reflect changes in ISP handshaking and feature enhancements. These upgrades are easily downloaded from the company’s website and ensure that customers with earlier models of Macsense products always have the most recent firmware and advanced features available to them.
